Continuing Spread of Parasitic Diseases
AVMA News
reports that the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) predicts that pathogens that cause heartworm disease, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis will continue to increase and spread throughout the US.

  • Cases of heartworm are increasing in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast parts of the country. The Southwest and northern Great Plains are expected to see similar increases.
  • High-risk areas for Lyme disease are again predicted in northern and southwestern Michigan and southern Indiana.

You can read more on the CAPC website here.
