Purchasing a Retriever Results Subscription or a Product from an Advertiser
When you purchase a subscription from us or from one of our advertisers, a third party billing contractor collects information required for credit card billing. That third party and Retriever Results use security techniques (including encryption and secure servers) to protect against unauthorized access to your information.

In the future we may use information we know about you (location, device used) to show you advertising content that you may find interesting.

Use of Retriever Results
In addition, when you register and use Retriever Results, we receive data about you. such as when you log in, what type of device you used, the IP address, GPS data, operating system and what information you look at. We also know what links and ads you click on. We aggregate this information with information from all Retriever Results users to gain insight into how to make the site better. We will also use your contact information to send you notifications about your purchases or other important announcements.

Information Collected by Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies
We use various technologies to collect information from the computer or device you use to access our Services, including cookies and web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help us see which areas and features of our Services are popular and count visits. Cookies enable personalization of your experience when you browse our site or receive marketing emails or texts from us (i.e., shopping cart reminders). Web beacons are electronic images that may be used in our Services or emails and help deliver cookies, count visits, and understand usage and campaign effectiveness. One of the technologies we use in our Services is Google Analytics. For more information about how Google processes information in connection with Google Analytics, please see https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Information We Collect From Other Sources
We may also obtain information from other sources. For example, we may collect information about you from other sites that sell our products, from other users, such as individuals who send you a gift through our Services, from social networks in accordance with their authorization procedures, or from third party providers that tie together multiple data points to gain additional information to create a unified customer view. Through third-party providers, we may also collect your email address via cookies and pixels on our websites and combine your email address with other information those third-party providers have access to (such as mailing address) so that we may serve relevant marketing offers to you via email or direct mail.

Information We Infer
We may derive information or draw inferences about you based on information we collect about you. For example, based on your browsing or purchases, we may infer your gender, your interest in certain activities or brands, or information about your purchasing activities over time.

Disclosure of Information
Unless we have your express permission, we will only provide data about you to third parties that is required to deliver the service. An example of this is account information that indicates you are a current customer. In addition, before providing information to our advertising partners we remove your name and any personally identifying information, or combine it with other people’s data in ways that it no longer personally identifies you. We occasionally work with a small group of advertisers to send surveys about product use to a small percentage (1.25%) of our subscribers. By responding to these surveys you make your email address available to the advertiser.

Confidentiality and Security
Retriever Results will take reasonable precautions to protect individually identifiable information against loss, misuse, alteration, destruction, unauthorized access and disclosure. Retriever Results will also take reasonable steps to ensure that data is reliable for its intended use, accurate, complete and current.

Disclosure Pursuant to Legal Process
Retriever Results will, as part of complying with applicable law, regulation or legal process, allow access to all available and relevant information.

If you are a resident of states such as California or Virginia, you may have certain privacy rights under the applicable privacy laws in your state. This section describes those rights and how you can exercise them.

Virginia Consumers
The Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA) affords consumers residing in Virginia rights with respect to their personal information. Subject to certain limitations and exceptions, the VCDPA provides Virginia consumers the right to request (1) to confirm whether or not we are processing your personal information; (2) to access a copy of the personal information you have previously provided to us; (3) to request deletion of their personal information; (4) to correct inaccurate personal information; (5) to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights; and (6) the right to opt out of the processing of personal information for targeted advertising.

Virginia consumers may opt out of the collection of cookie-based data by third parties for use in targeted advertising by following the instructions via the Do Not Sell My Personal Information link on the footer of our websites. Virginia consumers may make additional rights requests by visiting this portal, by contacting us at legal@backcountry.com, or by calling us at 1-833-923-3717.

If we decline to take action in response to your exercise of a privacy right, we will inform you of the reason for the denial and provide you with instructions on how to appeal the decision where applicable.

California Consumers
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and the Shine the Light law afford California residents certain rights with respect to their personal information. If you are a California resident, this section applies to you.

CPRA
In the last 12 months, we collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name and contact information), characteristics of protected classifications (such as age and gender), commercial information (such as products purchased), internet or other electronic network activity information (such as browsing behavior), geolocation data (such as if permitted for collection via one of our mobile apps), audio, electronic, visual or similar information (such as profile pictures or customer support call information), and inferences we make (such as preferred activities). California law requires that we provide transparency about scenarios in which Backcountry sells or shares personal information with third parties in exchange for valuable consideration or for certain marketing. We do not sell your personal information for money. Instead, like many retailers, we sell and share personal information to certain third parties to market and advertise our products to you and to curate and grow our catalog audience.

In the preceding 12 months, we have sold/shared identifiers (such as your email address, postal address and other online identifiers) with advertising networks and print catalog marketing partners, and electronic network activity information (such as browsing behavior) to advertising networks.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to opt out of these sales at any time by visiting our Do Not Sell My Personal Information webpage. Financial Incentives
We offer various financial incentives. For example, we provide discounts and other benefits to members of our loyalty programs and we may offer you a discount if you sign up for our email newsletters or participate in some surveys we offer. When you participate in a financial incentive, we collect personal information from you, such as identifiers like your name and email address and commercial information like your purchasing habits. You may opt into a financial incentive by following the instructions provided at sign-up, and you may withdraw from the incentive at any time by emailing legal@backcountry.com. If you withdraw from our loyalty program, Expedition Perks, you permanently forfeit any points or rewards you have accrued. Because your enrollment in Expedition Perks is tied to your accounts with Backcountry and Competitive Cyclist, your withdrawal from the Expedition Perks program will result in the termination of those accounts. In some cases, additional terms and conditions may govern a financial incentive program, which we will provide to you when you sign up. The value of your personal information is reasonably related to the value of the discount or benefit presented to you.

Shine the Light

If you would like to opt out of such sharing, please complete the form available here (select Do Not Sell My Information as the right you would like to exercise).
