ABOUT SNARE TRAPS

If you walk your dog in Wildlife Management or other “wild” areas, you may encounter snare traps. Snare traps come in various designs but they can be released by taking the strain off the snare wire and opening the loop. This could be difficult with a panicked dog. Many upland hunters have been known to carry wire cutters in case their dogs encounter a snare trap. The attached video details how snare traps are set and the photo depicts a typical snare trap.
